Further Your Career at MSU’s Career and Internship Fair


The Morehead State University Career and Internship Fair is an opportunity for students to network and begin to gain hands-on experience to launch their careers. The Eagles can gain an edge in reaching their career goals by participating in the Spring 2022 Career and Internship Fair.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 in the ballrooms of the Adron Doran University Center.

At the MSU Career Fair, students can connect with regional, statewide, and out-of-state employers and graduate programs while learning about full-time jobs. full and part-time, internships, cooperatives and graduate schools.

“MSU makes it a priority to ensure our students engage in high-quality experiential opportunities as part of their learning experience. Employers expect graduates to have hands-on experience in addition to classroom learning,” said Megan Boone, director with MSU’s Office of Career Services.

“The Career Fair is the premier event that connects students with employers and graduate programs to land internships and co-ops, as well as full-time jobs. is a great way to get information and advice that will set you apart from the competition.”

Riley Warner, a junior horticulture and strategic communications student, has taken advantage of the Career Fair and internships throughout her college career.

“The job fair is a great opportunity to find internships and job opportunities relevant to my career field. It allowed me to practice speaking to professionals, which improved my skills in communication. Everyone should attend,” Warner said.

Students should do a little preparation to make the most of their time at the Career and Internship Fair:

  • Dress the part. Be sure to dress professionally, as potential employers immediately take you more seriously when they make a solid first impression. If you need a work suit or jacket, please visit the MSU Career Services Office Suit Bank. If you find something that you like and that suits you, you can have it at no cost.
  • Bring copies of your CV and prepare an intro that will serve as what Boone calls your “30-second ad.”
  • Search businesses and schools present and be prepared to ask questions. Ann-Phillips Mayfield, Director of Recruitment at Northwestern Mutual, puts it well: “When you come to the job fair, prepare your resume in a concise, easy-to-read format. company and what we at Northwestern Mutual do so that we can focus the time we have together getting to know you! Ask the recruiter or representative what they are looking for in an intern or employee. Also, try not to be nervous, know that we have been where you are, and we are delighted to meet you and learn more about you.”
  • Expand your network. It’s never too early to explore industries and start building your network. You could be that student walking out of the Career and Internship Fair with an interview offer for an opportunity you didn’t know existed. Many MSU graduates return to campus to recruit talent and are eager to help current students achieve their career goals. “There are so many benefits to attending the fair, from getting your name out there to employers and graduate schools in your field, to feeling comfortable interacting in a professional setting” , Boone said.

Students who attend the Career and Internship Fair will also have the unique opportunity to receive a free professional photo that they can use on their LinkedIn page and other social media accounts.

“We want to make sure MSU students have the resources to establish a professional presence online and in person,” Boone said.

The representatives at the fair really want to recruit MSU students for jobs, internships and graduate schools.

“The Career and Internship Fair gives me the opportunity to meet candidates in person and assess job skills such as oral communication and professionalism, which cannot be easily judged from a CV As a regular attendee, I have found many interns and employees who are ready to launch their careers at the MSU show,” said Kay Moss, human resources manager at Stober Drives.
