Donovan Cox Receives Faculty Mentorship Award
November 3, 2021 – Economics professor Donovan Cox received the Faculty Mentorship Award for his work with fellow faculty members at Eastern Florida State College.
Cox started teaching part-time at the EFSC in 2013 and has been a full-time faculty member since 2014.
He teaches economics at the associate degree and bachelor of applied science level. He is currently the Program Manager for Associate Business Science courses.
The honor includes a $ 1,000 award funded through the generosity of donors to the Eastern Florida State College Foundation.
“Donovan’s exceptional work in the classroom is matched by his work with faculty members who benefit from his experience and insight,” said college president Dr. Jim Richey.
“We are fortunate to have him with us to show the commitment to teaching and student achievement that is the hallmark of the EFSC. ”
Cox was nominated for the 2021 award by Jill Bloomstine, an accounting trainer he mentored.
He sums up his advice to mentees as follows:
“Concentrate first on what awaits you, which is your course preparation and your students. Once a teacher feels that things are going well in the classroom, they are much more likely to be enthusiastic and confident about contributing to college in other ways as well.
Cox has served on several college committees, including the Tenure Council and the Study Abroad program. He is also the founder and co-sponsor of the EFSC Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society.
