Summary of Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GL-05: have successfully completed 4 years of higher education at the secondary level in any field for which graduation high school or equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, college or university. One year of full-time university study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or the equivalent at a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a company, a secretariat or a technique. school.GL-06: Generally, education is not creditable above GL-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, higher education may be credited in the few cases where the higher education is directly related to the work of the position. ORExperience: GL-05 and GL-06: You must have at least one year of equivalent specialized experience in difficulty and complexity at the next lower grade level. To be credited, this experience must have provided the candidate with the specific qualifications allowing him to successfully perform the duties of the position. Here are some examples of this qualifying experience: GL-05: Experience performing accounting support work in an office or medical environment.
Experience in using and understanding accounting procedures related to credit funding, appropriations, obligations and disbursements and in analyzing the interrelationship of accounts that are affected by various transactions.
Experience reviewing incoming transactions (vouchers, cash receipts, invoices, tax forms, etc.) to ensure that value accounting codes, signatures, prices, services and receipts are complete and accurate.
Experience in processing accounts payable and settling payment vouchers. GL-06: Experience using and understanding accounting terminology and account codes related to an automated system.
Experience in account reconciliation; prepare reports or schedules reflecting the status of funds in each account. Locate and summarize file and document information as needed.
Experience in balancing, reconciling details and reports and summary information within and between related accounts and records as required and creating correspondence to general questions related to financial reporting.
Experience validating, monitoring, controlling and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records using various procedures.
Experience in finding discrepancies between ledgers and making adjustments; and reconcile the detailed list of outstanding transactions with the general ledger control accounts. ORCombination of education and experience: GL-05 only: have a combination of education and experience. Only studies exceeding the first 60 hours of the semester (i.e. beyond the second year) are credited towards satisfying the specialized experience requirement. A full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. This experience should have equipped you with the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of this position as described above. Where applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
